COVID-19 UPDATE FOR WE TRANSPORT EMPLOYEES

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause great hardship and suffering it remains a time of great stress and uncertainty. It’s also a moment in time when expressing our concern for all of our valued employees and their families are most paramount. There is no instruction manual for how to feel at a time like this, but I know this causes great anxiety for everyone. My list of concerns right now, as I’m sure is the same for many of you, is a long one: My wife, children, parents, family, friends, and the safety of you, my colleagues, and those who are already very sick or have sadly passed.

We have been reaching out to as many of you as possible this past week to see how you are holding up during this difficult time. We are happy to hear that so many of you and your families are well and can’t wait to get back to work and regain some sort of normalcy in your life. This too is our great hope.

Unfortunately, there has been no movement from the school districts that have refused to pay us at this time. We have continued to pressure our elected officials on behalf of all of our valued employees and will continue to do so until we get a solution to this problem. As you are probably aware, the Governors of New York and Connecticut have moved the mandatory shutdown dates to May 15th and May 20th, respectively. During this downtime, we are working on new safeguard protocols for our workplace for when we do finally reopen for business.

Dispatchers will continue to be in the terminals during most business hours to help answer your questions. For anyone having difficulty with benefits or any other Human Resource related issues, representatives are available to help you. Please contact them at 516-349-8200 for assistance.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during these unnerving times. Please stay safe and come back and visit this blog for future updates.
